Family Partnering Committee

Job Description

To work with Habitat families to help them in the transition from renting to homeownership and to enhance their participation in the Habitat for Humanity community.

You WILL be:

a mentor

like a good neighbour

like a friend

You WILL NOT be the local handyman.

Other considerations:

1. Ability to ensure the confidentiality of the family.

Sensitivity to the needs of others

Ability to facilitate the process of decision making and maintain an objective focus

Ability to explore any problems and possible solutions

Develop a friendly, respectful and supportive relationship with the family

Maintain regular contact (by phone, email and in person) with the family

2. This is a voluntary commitment and may be ended at any time by contacting HFHN or Larry Beck. Also, the family will gradually gain more confidence and will need your advice less and less. The partnership will end naturally when it is ready.

3. Not all partnerships work. The partnership can be eneded early for a variety of good reasons and either party can ened the relationship.

Board of Directors and Operating Commitees

Habitat for Humanity Northumberland is seeking experienced individuals to serve on our Board of Directors and on our Operating Committees.

As a member of the Board or its Committees, an individual acts in a position of trust for the community and is responsible for the effective governance and leadership of our organization in helping to build simple, decent, affordable homes for families in Northumberland County.

We are welcoming applications from candidates who can exhibit the following:
·         Skills and expertise in these areas:
o   Marketing
o   Finance
o   Construction
o   Property Management
o   Human Resources
o   Law
·         Interest in improving the community
·         Willingness to serve on committees and support special events
·         Ability to commit time to the organization and attend monthly meetings
