Home Maintenance Assistance for Low Income Homeowners

A Brush with Kindness

Recognizing that variable costs, such as utilities and property taxes, sometimes create hardship for low-income household, Habitat for Humanity Northumberland has initiated a program to assist with routine maintenance and repairs. This program is designed to help homeowners remain living safely and independently in their homes and maintain the integrity of their buildings. This program is called A Brush with Kindness.

We look for support from local manufacturers, retailers and trades to help us deliver A Brush with Kindness. The savings are passed on to the homeowner, who repays the cost of the project in affordable monthly installments.

Qualifying applicants may have work done such as exterior painting, window or door replacement and weatherproofing. A Brush with Kindness will also make adaptations for safe living, such as wheelchair ramps and grab bars to accommodate special needs. A Brush with Kindness will help with modest repairs; no major structural changes.

A Brush with Kindness operates with the support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
