King Charles III Coronation Medals are given to individuals who have made significant contributions to the welfare and betterment of their communities across Canada.

Cassell’s volunteerism with Habitat has reached beyond his local community to both northern remote Indigenous communities and beyond Canadian borders with Habitat’s Global Village program.

“Bill's quiet dedication to Habitat has made a huge impact on our organization and the families that we support,” said Cathy Borowec CEO of Habitat for Humanity Northumberland. “Bill is among the core volunteers that make up the backbone of our build site crew. His contributions are invaluable to our mission.”

Bill accepted his award at the current Habitat Northumberland build site in Baltimore, but did not want stop painting to accept the award.

"Just like Bill to not want to be torn away from the work, even to receive this honour,” added Borowec, "It is just another indication of his ongoing and steadfast commitment to Habitat."

The King Charles III Coronation Medal, created to mark the coronation of King Charles III on May 6, 2023, was the first Canadian commemorative medal to mark a coronation. The medal, awarded to 30,000 Canadians, honours individuals who have made a significant impact through volunteerism.
