Our goal at Habitat for Humanity is to break the cycle of poverty by promoting safe, stable, and affordable housing. We achieve this mission through a range of programs that support individuals and families in financially vulnerable situations.

Through our Homeownership Program, we help families build and buy quality, affordable homes — empowering them to achieve strength, stability, and independence through homeownership. Habitat for Humanity homes are sold with:

• No down payment

• Partial interest and interest-free mortgages

• Mortgage payments set at 30% of gross income

• Homeowner training and support services​

 

This program ensures affordable housing while allowing families to build equity for the future and contribute back to the community.

To qualify for our Homeownership Program, future homebuyers must demonstrate need, be able to carry a mortgage, and contribute a minimum of 500 hours of “sweat equity” by building their own home or assisting Habitat for Humanity in other ways.

 

In addition to helping families achieve homeownership, our new Home Repairs and Renos Program extends this mission by helping low-income homeowners remain in safe, decent housing. Through critical repairs and accessibility renovations, this program helps preserve existing homes, improve living conditions, and support aging in place. Ensuring that more members of our community can continue to live safely and comfortably in their own homes.
