ReStore Back Shop and Repair Associate

ReStore Manager

 

JOB SUMMARY:

The position is responsible for supporting customers and volunteers to ensure the movement and coordination of materials from the back shop to the ReStore sales floor. The position will require strong customer service skills to ensure that all customers, volunteers, and donors are receiving the best experience possible. The position will also support other elements of the ReStore business while always promoting the values that embrace the mission of Habitat for Humanity Northumberland.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The ReStore Back Shop and Repair Associate will be primarily responsible for working alongside volunteers and ReStore staff to ensure the movement and coordination of materials from the ReStore Back Shop to the ReStore sales floor. This will also include overseeing the repair of items before they are placed on the sales floor.

 

Additionally, the ReStore Back Shop and Repair Associate will:

Administrative Duties

  • Open the ReStore and ensure that cash float is in place;

  • Offer other such administrative support to the ReStore Floor Manager as required;

 

Health and Safety

  • Follow all Health and Safety policies and procedures as outlined by the ReStore Manager and ReStore Floor Manager;

  • General safety management of the back shop area including logging hazardous products in the database;

  • Work in a manner that is safe and respectful for self and all other employees and volunteers while setting an example for all other employees and volunteers;

 

Customer Service and Sales

  • Work, as part of a cohesive team, to meet and exceed established sales targets;

  • Assist with store opening and closing, customer service, and the cash desk;

  • Oversee and manage volunteers;

  • Be familiar with customer return and credit policies and procedures;

  • Provide exceptional, proactive, customer-centered service on the front line to all ReStore customers and donors;

  • Provide customer service that includes helping customers and donors load or unload materials and products;

  • Promote the mission and vision of Habitat for Humanity Northumberland to customers and donors;

 

Inventory Management

  • Be familiar with the inventory and donation standards in order to provide final decision on acceptable donations for the ReStore;

  • Support the ReStore Floor Manager and the ReStore volunteers in the placement, movement and staging of materials;

  • Support the ReStore Manager in the processing and management of donations in the backroom operations including pricing;

  • Support the ReStore Floor Manager to ensure that donations are processed and repaired;

  • Provide back-up support for donation pick-ups when required which can include lifting and product movement; and

 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assist with or complete any other such projects or tasks as may be assigned by the ReStore Manager or the ReStore Floor Manager from time to time.

Qualifications:

  • Retail experience;

  • Technical competencies;

  • Experience working with volunteers would be an asset;

  • Strong people skills;

  • Flexibility and ability to switch tasks;

  • Strong communication skills, with proven results;

  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines;

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;

  • Access to a vehicle;

  • Driver’s license and maintain an excellent driving record;

  • Ability to work flexible hours – weekend work and some evenings; and

  • Commitment to the mission of Habitat for Humanity Northumberland and representing that mission within the community.
