ReStore Manager



The position is responsible for coordinating the administration of the ReStore of Habitat for Humanity Northumberland. This position will implement the volunteer management program in the ReStore, oversee the coordination of pick-up donations (including doing donation pick-ups), implement the social media and communications strategy for the ReStore and coordinate the general administration of the ReStore. 


The person in this position must have a diverse skill set which includes strong people skills, administration skills, computer and technology skills, and donation pick-up skills. They must also be able to manage diverse tasks with speed, accuracy, discretion, and clarity, while always promoting the values that embrace the mission of Habitat for Humanity Northumberland.



Administration and Communications

  • Oversee the management of the ReStore office area and volunteer spaces including the lunch room;

  • Oversee the implementation of HFHN’s record management plan as it pertains to the ReStore;

  • Ensure that all required equipment and supplies in the ReStore are available for staff and volunteers;

  • Provide general administration support including answering the telephone, answering general ReStore inquiries, tracking daily sales, banking duties (deposits and ensuring a regular float for the ReStore till), and invoice coding;

  • Coordinate the administration of the ReStore’s E-Waste program;

  • Ensure the general upkeep and maintenance of the ReStore property and systems including security, telephone, computers, lawn care, parking lot maintenance, snow removal, general maintenance;

  • Ensure effective implementation of HFHN’s communications and marketing strategies for the ReStore including printing signage, posting to social media, and updating the ReStore section of HFHN’s website;

  • Support ReStore Management with the operation of the online sales platform;

Volunteer Support

  • Coordinate the implementation of HFHN’s volunteer program in the ReStore including scheduling, training/orientation, monitoring and ongoing support for ReStore volunteers;

  • Support the ReStore Manager and the Community Engagement Coordinator to implement the annual volunteer recognition plan for the ReStore;

  • Track the volunteer contribution to the ReStore program and provide reports to the Community Engagement Coordinator;


Pick-up Donation Support 

  • Coordinate donation pick-ups including initial product assessment, scheduling, communication with the driver, scheduling ReStore assistants on the truck (staff or volunteers), confirmation with donors, and ensuring an appropriate appreciation system is in place for all donors;

  • Provide pick-up donation support including driving the truck, loading product, unloading and merchandising product on the sales floor;

  • Manage the input of ReStore GIK donations into the donor database and work with the Administrative and Communications Coordinator to ensure that tax receipts for ReStore donations are reconciled;

  • Manage all required paperwork for the ReStore vehicle including driver abstracts, registration and government issued paperwork;

General ReStore Support

  • Provide occasional sales associate and/or cashier back-up support for the ReStore;

  • Support the ReStore Manager in the preparation of monthly internal reports and required reports for Habitat Canada;

  • Assist with or complete any other such projects or tasks as may be assigned from the ReStore Manager, from time to time;

  • Other, as required; and

  • Work week will require flexibility of schedule as some activities occur in the evening or on weekends.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;

  • Valid driver’s license;

  • Access to a vehicle;

  • Ability to work flexible hours – some nights and weekends; and
