Habitat partners with The Bee Works to wish moms a “Happ-bee Mother’s Day with Spring Fundraiser

Updated: Jun 13, 2023

Cobourg, ON – Not sure what to get Mom for Mother’s Day? Habitat for Humanity Northumberland and The Bee Works have you covered. Starting March 14, 2023 the online ordering platform will be available to purchase candles, honey and everything bee-related in preparation for Mother’s Day (Sunday May 14th).

“We were approached by Jennifer from The Bee Works in late 2022 about partnering for a fundraiser. We thought this is in keeping with our strategic goal of exploring more partnerships in our community, where both a business and non-profit and can see the benefits,” Executive Director Meaghan Macdonald explained.

As a part of learning more about this partnership, the Habitat team was invited to The Bee Works to see the magic behind the creation of many of the products involved in the fundraiser on-site in Port Hope. Demonstrations of candle making and honey pouring helped Habitat to understand what goes on at the production facility. " We are so pleased to offer members of our community and beyond, an amazing experience at our state-of-the-art facility. Whether you are looking for beekeeping supplies, candles, workshops, or fantastic gift ideas, we've got you covered. Come check out all of the fabulous things we have to offer!" Jennifer Stafrace from The Bee Works.

The online order platform will be open until April 21, 2023 and features a variety of products at different price points.

“You can purchase items as a gift for Mother’s Day or enjoy them for yourself,” according to Melissa Morrison, Community and Fund Development Coordinator. Once orders are placed, they will be ready for pick up at the Habitat ReStore in Cobourg on Tuesday May 9th, in plenty of time for Mother’s Day. All proceeds from the fundraiser go towards Habitat’s build projects this year.

Look at you, planning ahead. Your mom would be proud.
