We build strength, stability and independence
through affordable homeownership
about us
Our goal at Habitat for Humanity is to break the cycle of poverty through promoting homeownership. Our Homeownership Program helps individuals and families in financially vulnerable situations build and buy decent affordable homes. Once they become mortgage-paying homeowners, their payments then help fund the building of other homes for future Habitat homeowners.
Habitat for Humanity homes are sold with:
-
No down-payment
-
Interest-free mortgages
-
Mortgage payments set at 25% of gross income
-
Homeowner training and support services
This program ensures affordable housing while allowing families to build equity for the future and contribute back to their community.
In order to qualify for this program homebuyers must be able to demonstrate their need, their ability carry a mortgage, and contribute a minimum of 500 hours of "sweat equity" into building their own home or providing other assistance to Habitat for Humanity.
