VOLUNTEER
for emergency preparedness
We’re looking for volunteers for our Emergency Preparedness Program
Who are we?
Habitat Northumberland has been operating our Home Repairs & Renovations Suite for over 8 years, providing affordable solutions to help vulnerable homeowners stay in their homes and keep Northumberland’s housing stock viable. Together with Habitat for Humanity Windsor-Essex and Habitat for Humanity Hamilton, we are launching a program to boost our capacity to help our community respond to larger-scale emergencies.
What is this role?
We are developing a core group of volunteers who can work together as a team to assist our government’s response to either natural or man-made disasters. Our volunteers may be asked to respond to emergency situations or to work with Habitat to recover and rebuild.
What would our volunteers be doing?
Volunteers will receive training on select procedures, tools, and techniques to prepare for a broad range of emergency situations. Volunteers will also gain hands-on experience working with our build team on repairs, renovations, and salvages. Habitat Northumberland will also be hosting a CPR-AED course and a mock emergency exercise day.
What are we looking for in a volunteer?
We are looking for team players who love learning, helping others, and working safely.
This volunteer position does not require a large time commitment, but a willingness to help out if called upon.
